Simone Mareuil in Un Chien Andalou (1929, dir. Luis Buñuel)
“While spending Christmas with Salvador Dali in Figueras, I suggested to him that we do a film together. He said: ‘Last night I dreamt with ants swarming in my hand.’ And I said: ‘Oh! Man! I dreamt about a cloud cutting the moon and me cutting someone’s eye with a razor.’
We wrote the script in six days. We identified with each other so much that there was no discussion.”

"Wasted youth is probably the most valuable asset for what I’m doing now. You see the world, you end up in jail three or four times, you accumulate experience. And it gives you something to say. If you don’t have anything to say then you shouldn’t be making films. It’s nothing to do with what lens you’re using."

one forty plus: Simple.
I wish that when I was younger I could have met my current self. We would have sat down at a coffee shop so that I could explain life to young me in terms that only we would understand. It would have saved me a lot of hardship.
You can listen to all the sage wisdom you want, but things only make…

Ala's Dos: The art of taming each other
Remember chapter 21 of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s “The Little Prince”? The exchange between The Little Prince and the Fox where he quotes “What is essential is invisible to the eye”? It’s one of my most favorite literary exchanges ever.
It’s such an important read. Nothing else lays down the…

I’m selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can’t handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don’t deserve me at my best. — Marilyn Monroe

no puedo esperar para mi clase de pelicula.
I’m on an artistic hiatus right now. if that’s even possible. Been dang busy with last minute stuffs which back fired and came back to haunt me and made me question “Oh why haven’t I done this earlier?”. WHYYYYY?
Goodness. In a few days I’ll be a year older and i still lack the initiative of responsibility.
So let me just finish some stuffs, list down and buy everything I need, and squeeze out the love I have for the people I love while I can still see and feel their physical presence.
And trust me, my succeeding posts will be full of awesome-ness!
Eto nahhh!! :)

mandolins don’t get enough love
I have a friend on campus who plays wicked mandolin, and I must admit, it is a grossly underestimated little instrument.
